John Bloor Eulogy Born in Liverpool on 8th January 1941, John was born into a family of 3 sisters, Marion, Lena, and Pat and later on they were joined by brother Kenny. John spent his childhood in and around Toxteth, Liverpool, he loved the outdoors and loved to run, play football and was a keen boxer. John left school at 16 for a career on the railways he went onto complete an Apprenticeship as an electrician where he met Ken his future brother- in-law who introduced him to his future wife Hilary. John and Hilary spent their courtship frequenting the local dance halls in and around Liverpool, John loved to jive! They also liked to go to the cinema and John would walk miles from the ferry to see Hilary. John and Hilary married in June 1963 and started their married life in Birkenhead they had two children Steve and Sara and later went onto have two grandchildren Tracie and Molly . John moved to Vauxhalls in 1966 where he went onto to work for 30 years- he became a shop steward and a well known character in Vauxhalls he was a teacher and mentor to the new apprentices and was much respected – he always wanted to be a teacher and just didn’t realise he was! John and Hilary always dreamt and planned to move to Spain for their retirement and managed to finally do this in 2005 where they patiently waited for their dream house on Sierra Golf to be finished- a few manana’s later they were finally in! and living their dream. John loved his life in Spain and enjoyed gardening, pottering and losing himself in the cellar for hours on end! John loved to socialise and took up golf whilst in Spain as a (very) part time hobby, he was extremely proud to be awarded the trophy of ‘last man standing’ at the Sierra golf tournament last summer. John always had time for people and didn’t take life too seriously, he was a mentor , teacher and the best Husband, Dad, and Grandad anyone would want. A man with a great northern sense of humour and a huge heart he was very much loved by all who met him. "The common thread and ever present constant in John's life, and the one he treasured most, was that he spent 50 years with his best friend and love of his life - Hilary. We'll miss you John."
